| In the back streets of Paris during the turn into the 15th century, a secret, considered the most sacred secret in history was discovered by ordinary book merchant by the name of Nicolas Flamel. He purchased a curious and ancient book, covered with mysterious symbols and curious drawings. With the guidance of learned master, Nicolas came to understand the book and discovered its secret. So powerful was this secret that over night the humble book merchant gained access to immense wealth. Legends began that he had learnt how to turn lead into gold. The bizarre nature of his sudden rise in status, came to the attention of the Royal Court in France, and the King ordered that the Book Keeper was to be investigated. But the court could find no evidence of any wrong doing and Nicolas Flamel was free. From that place in history the legend of Flamel carried on. It became the obsession of Kings and Priests. In the 17th Century when the famous Cardinal Richelieu came to power he used his position of obtain all the works that Flamel had ever written, had all of the known properties own by the Book merchant searched, almost dismantled, it is even commonly believed that he ordered the grave of Flamel to be dug up, which spurred the reports of the time claiming that the grave was empty thus starting the legend that Flamel had become immortal. Decades later King Louis XIV of France heard that one of his highest ministers, a Nicolas Fouquet, had received secret information that may reveal the knowledge of Flamel. He ordered the minister arrested and all his papers seized, and held for the Kings eyes only. The King tried to have the minister executed, but the courts over ruled him. So instead the King had Fouquet imprisoned, but with the order that he was to speak to no one, and if someone did they were to be killed on the spot. Through this time and centuries before and that followed, the secret was held revered and protected by famous secret societies, the Knights Templar during the crusades, the Rosicrucian Movement throughout the reformation and inquisition period and into orders such as the Freemasons for the modern era. As cultures developed so did these societies, and the secret was passed on even as their names changed. To ensure its survival and protection it was encoded into rituals and a device was created called The Key was hidden at various places through history around the world, from ancient worlds like Egypt, Israel and Greece, to historic lands like France, England and Spain, and then was taken to new worlds like America, where the clues to its discovery where placed into the very beginning of the New Worlds culture.
